ELA Lead/ Instructional Coach
Rebekah has spent the last 15 years in education, beginning her career as a middle school ELA teacher in Southeast Los Angeles. She worked closely with new teachers in her district and as a staff member for Teach For America’s summer institutes. She spent 7 years as a classroom teacher, and also served as a literacy coach for Boston Public Schools and LAUSD. She has extensive experience in teacher professional development and was an author of the literacy sessions for Teach For America’s summer institute, an elementary curriculum for nursery and primary schools in Kenya, and both a middle school ELA and social studies curriculum for charter schools across the US. More recently, as the ELA Lead coach with TenSquare, she is responsible for ensuring that high-quality literacy instruction is taking place in all K-8 classrooms by supporting and coaching teachers and instructional coaches. In addition, she is a Data-Driven Guided Reading trainer and Close Reading facilitator for KIPP Literacy Learning Labs. She holds a Reading Specialist degree, a Master’s in Education of Language and Literacy from Harvard University, a Master’s of Arts Education and Language Arts from Loyola Marymount, and BA in English from the University of Texas at Austin.
