School Improvement Leader/Math Lead

iLaRita builds the capacity of leaders and instructors at TenSquare partner schools, and she leads the TenSquare Math coaching program. She was a secondary math teacher for six years in the District of Columbia having worked in both DCPS and charter high schools. As a teacher, LaRita’s students gained tremendous outcomes demonstrating the highest growth in mathematics on state tests District wide and attaining the highest math proficiency levels at the high school level. LaRita served as the Academic Director at Thurgood Marshall Academy for several years where she oversaw the academic program for the school. Under her leadership, the school sustained its position as the highest-performing charter high school in the District. Most recently, LaRita served as the Mathematics Coordinator for San Mateo County Office of Education leading the system’s mathematics and leadership professional development. A seasoned curriculum writer having written secondary math curriculum for national education companies, LaRita has also taught at the collegiate level developing math teachers. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Math Education from San Diego State University and a Master of Education from American University.
