Katie R. Herman builds, scales, and strengthens impactful nonprofit and education organizations nationwide. As Partner at TenSquare, she established the firm’s organizational performance and talent sourcing practice areas, recruiting top-tier talent and partnering with nonprofit boards, executives, and charter authorizers on complex transitions, strategic planning, and performance improvement initiatives.
Previously, Katie was a founding team member of Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School in Anacostia, D.C., serving as Managing Director, Head of Development, and Board Member. During her decade-long tenure, she designed the school’s organizational framework, hired and led the senior leadership team, secured community and philanthropic partnerships, and executed multi-million-dollar funding strategies. She also served as Vice President of Development for PeerForward (formerly College Summit), where she led the national development team and supported regional operations. Katie has chaired and served on the boards and committees of multiple local organizations. She began her career in research and evaluation at Policy Studies Associates and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Brown University.
